On Sunday February 12, 2023, I attended a college basketball game in Evanston, Illinois at Welsh Ryan Arena. The #1 ranked Purdue University Boilermakers basketball team came to take on the Northwestern Wildcats. The final score was 64 for the Wildcats and 58 for the Boilermakers. This was perhaps Northwestern’s biggest regular season win in program history and first win over a #1 ranked team. Northwestern guard Boo Buie lead all scores with 26 points and 3 assists. Purdue center Zach Edey had 24 points and 8 rebounds. Northwestern lost control of the lead in the first few minutes and did not take the lead again until late with under 2 minutes remaining thanks in part to Northwestern guard Chase Audige who got going late and scored 15 points for the game.
